Making a feat that uses a different attribute

Sturmrider

Well-known member
Hi,

I am both new to HeroLabs and the forum. I am attempting to recreate an old feat that uses Charisma for the will save. I am also new to XML haven't done any programming in years. So I am stumbling along. Here is what I have so far and I am getting an error message. It is in the syntax, any help will be appreciated.

hero.child[svWill].assign[SaveAbil.aCHA]

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Larry

Thank you for your help. I will tackle this along with the other things I am trying. Are the Community packs in the basic Pathfinder?

Thank you again for your help.

Are the Community packs in the basic Pathfinder
Not 100% sure I am following the question sorry. The Community Pack are "extra" addons that you install. You have to do a one time setup for the community server URL. Then you can download and install from inside of HL. HL will also let you know if new versions of the community Pack comes out.

These are community created additions like adjustments or 3PP books like Ultimate Psionics or converted campaign worlds like Eberron.

Unlike the stuff you get from LW the community stuff can be fully seen using the editor.

Hope that helps...

I am definitely in the dark on how to set up Community packs. I clicked on the commuinty server setup and found the new url, but have no idea where to start. They seem to be saying everything has changed. I will try to plow thru this, but if you have a condensed step1 to whatever, that would be a great help.

Thank you for all the time you have taken with me.

I have entered the URL supposedly got the updates, but when I go to the find updates after restarting Hero Lab I do not find the “Lawful_g d20(vX.XX)” of any type in other words there is no Lawful to start. I must be missing something.

That's not the Pathfinder Community Pack at all.

Are you posting in the correct forum? d20 is not Pathfinder, and is for old 3.x material (which will NOT work in Pathfinder at all; the underlying setup is totally different).

I thought something was wrong. I thought u had followed the Pathfinder location and directions looks like I will have to go back.

Thank you for your help. Have solved that problem. Boy there is a lot of Community add ons. Are there any you suggest I don't use or should I just turn them all on. I am not familiar with most of it.

FFG - Fire as she Bears tends to modify stuff you may not want modified. Been awhile since I had it on but I know it caused confusion for those not familiar with it. Modern stuff only turn on if you plan to run any modern games and also the Technology Guide will add stuff you may not want available in most Pathfinder games. Otherwise the rest should be good for use.

Only install the "Pathfinder Pack" from the new URL :-)

ONLY turn on what you need or want. I would suggest with "ShadowChemosh's Adjustments" which gives lots of new options on the "Adjust" tab. This allows for easily adding in lots of custom house rules to characters.

These new "Options" relate mostly back to 3PP books. The only ones that don't relate to a physical Pathfinder 3PP book are the options with a persons name. In example the 'ShadowChemosh' options add in very helpful features for groups. In example if you turn on the "ShadowChemosh Equipment" one way to find what it adds is to go to the Gear tab and search for 'ShadowChemosh'. All the items/equipment will appear in the list. For example you will find Gold, Silver, copper and platinum pieces as equipment. They exist because it makes it easier to set "some" money in different locations or transfer via equipment to other .por files. Another example is if you have "ShadowChemosh Equipment" turned on and you add "Bane" to a weapon you have my version that lets you turn the Bane values on/off from the "In-Play" tab. Very useful if you have an iPad.

If the option is like RGG "Rogue Genius Games" then the options relate back to 3PP Pathfinder Books. In example if you turn on "RGG - Dragonrider" option this gives you access to the Dragonrider class from THIS pdf.

So if your group is not allowing all these 3PP Books I would not turn them on. :)

Ummm like what? The only thing that this option adds is the "Navel Combat Option" to appear for all characters. But if your group is playing with FasB rules that is a important option to have. FasB has no other changes it does except to have a new "Race" where you can custom build ships based on the FasB rule set. As I have noticed a few complaints about the Navel Options appearing for all characters I could reassign the ability to another "source" allowing people to turn it on/off as they want.

I guess I am confused as it sounds like people want to just turn on OPTIONS for characters without any idea what the books do. Why would you do that?

To put it bluntly not everyone has had the time to read every book there ever was out there to get up to speed on what is all offered in the community pack, this extends to Paizo products too. So those of us who haven't been able to do that will instead just activate as much as we can and read up as we game or build characters, etc etc. The Navel option is very nice, but when I first started using Herolab and I didn't know that FasB would change a tab or two so I got confused as what was going on and it took me a bit to realize which book did it, since I am the kind of person who will try it all on first to see if things will go as planned (aka datasets breaking or app crashing). I just have a odd way of doing things is all.

Plus: Content man! We love having all that content available! :)

Thank you all for your feedback. I am trying to figure out which one is the Pathfinder pack to turn on. It doesn't say that in it, but I did download and install it.

The Community Pack is the options listed at the TOP of your Configure Your Hero options. Shows "Community Pack v1.7" currently. Then you have a "tree" structure of options with about a hundred new options. There is not "single" Turn on Pathfinder Pack option. ;) I can show a pic once I get near HL again.

Its broken down into dozens of options to allow people to turn on/off just the books or options they want. :)
