Prepared spell casting

I would love to see an option to limit "prepared" spell casters so that the same spell cannot be added to the list multiple times. Instead forcing the usage of the incremental counter

We have players in our group who are confused by the increment and prefer having multiples of spells listed several times, once per memorization of the spell.

I like having the option of doing it both ways. Nothing stops you from using the increment counter in the current version of Hero Lab.

Correct, but it's annoying to add a spell only to realize it's already on the list

I see your point.

We have a player with Asperger's in our group, and having:
Magic Missile, Magic Missile, and Magic Missile

is a lot easier for him, than:
Magic Missile (3)

Please note that I am NOT requesting any change in the default behavior, but rather an option that can be toggled for players/characters that want it. Is this something that can be done, or is it possible to use the editor to allow this?

I think the reason you can add a spell more than once is so that you can add it in different ways (for example one with a metamagic and one without.

If you limited the ability to add multiple copies of the spell, I think it would prevent that.

There is a separate section for metamagic spells. What I am trying to do is figure out a way to apply an optional "rule" just like there is for "Don't Require memorized spells" where I can say that spells can only be added once for prepared spell casters. There should be a way to do it since it already happens with spontaneous casters.

The table shown for spontaneous caster's known spells is a different table from the one which is shown for memorized casters memorized spells, and the tables have different attributes set on them at creation. I'm like, 99% sure that we can't futz with those attributes in eval scripts to change one table into behaving like the other in certain ways.

If we were to support this preference, it'd either require my boss and the devs to make those table attributes modifiable from the outside (and their time is way more valuable than mine and always in short supply), or we'd have to define a new table which is shown instead of the current one with its own set of settings (which is a pain to support going forward). Barring a really large demand for this sort of thing, or a sudden windfall of time + completing all the other projects we would like, I don't think this is likely to come to pass, sorry.

Hmm. Could you change the color of the spell listing once it has been prepared? That would let people avoid accidentally adding it twice while not bothering deliberately adding it twice. Assuming that an appropriate color could be found, anyway.
