Ponyfinder

I've been invited to play in a Ponyfinder game. I never knew there was such a thing. I know people get judgmental about this sort of thing, so if you're one of those people, move along.

For the rest of you, there Ponyfinder books, and there are ready-made HeroLab extensions.

Are you a fan of the show already? I actually watched the show originally for context, as a Brony friend of mine was going to start a Ponyfinder campaign, and found I liked it.

I think most tabletop gamers are pretty tolerant. I haven't met many fellow gamers who turn their nose up at the whole MLP fandom, and those that I do get guff from I just point out that imagination and choice are the heart of our hobby. There isn't really that much difference in picturing yourself as an elf or dwarf vs. a pony or griffon.

I've watched a few episodes of the show. I never really thought about it much. I thought it was kind of weird, but I was never a hater. People like what they like. I have my fandoms, and they have theirs.

But the more I heard about, the more curious I got, and my friend who's a brony directed me to a documentary about bronies. In there was a guy who used to be an artist, went off to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan, and when he came back, found that he just didn't find any joy in anything anymore. Not in his art, and not in anything in his life.

Then he started watching Friendship is Magic, and it affected him ... positively. He started drawing again (pony fan art, mostly), and started functioning again.

I figured, "OK, THAT is a powerful testimonial". So I had to watch a few episodes. I didn't have a transformative experience, but I gotta say that it is a good, cute, fun show. And I can see the appeal. If I had kids, I would definitely endorse them watching this show. And I still watch an occasional episode, when I want some cheering up.

My roommate was really into it, and tried to get me into it too.
It wasn't for me, although I'm not against it either.

At the time, I was 5 & 10 boxing World of Warcraft.
With trial accounts, and his two accounts, we set up a team of Blood Elves, 1x Paladin and 4x Frost Death Knight for him... he named his team after the ponies.

What is 5 and 10 boxing?

Heh, I set up an X-com 2 squad to be Expys for the Mane 6, but sadly that playthrough fell aside. Maybe I'll find time for it again after GenCon.
