Second attempt using RealmWorks during a session.

This time was more successful. I took the dive again, because I'm running RotRL, so I'm not improvising nearly as much, and it's much more important to keep good track of things: what they players have done, what information has been revealed to them, etc.

This attempt at using tech at the table was more successful ... HOWEVER, it was more successful because I only had my laptop, and kept player interaction analog. I still had printed material for maps and handouts (though we haven't gotten to handouts yet).

As far as my role as the GM, I think it's fair to say that things went more smoothly than they would have without RW.

That being said, I still need to print. :-) (In this case, I'm printing from the PDFs I bought from Paizo, and from community created maps I've found for download.)

Good to hear!

Personally, I started out using only RW on my laptop as my information data base. Way easier to look up stuff than with a bunch of paper notes. After a while I added an iPad, that I use as a second monitor (via splashtop app). The iPad lies on the table - in a sheet protector, mind you - and is mainly displaying the map and occasional images.

The dream would be to have a huge flat tv under a glass table, so I could use RW also for as battle maps with minis ;-)

like this...... Our Room

There are several of us that have done that. be sure to read the details in the thread on the cost and approaches (ventilation, etc), Its not so cost prohibitive as you would think.... if you are patient and shop around wisely...My players wouldn't know what to do without it... :)
