Windows 10 Compatibility

it looks like your display is stuck at 640x480 mode. Try rebooting Windows 10 in safe mode and try adjusting your display resolution there and then reboot.

Just a heads up after the latest insider build (Windows 10 build 10547). I ain't able to reactivate or obtain updates from Hero Lab. I already filed a bug report and waiting for a response currently

If you're a part of the Windows insider group, let us know in your bug report. We have worked with users in this situation before by authorizing their license for reassignment prior to the next update.

Thank you for the response Liz. That information is in my ticket and I already mailed before hand to release my license for the update. But the issue I am running in is that Hero Lab can't connect to the servers for me currently. This is the only piece of software currently unavailable to do so.

So just wanted to give other insiders a heads up just in case this is an actual new Windows build issue. I am just getting error messages when trying to connect to the update server and it tells me that it can't communicate with the license server either. But well this is all in the support ticket which I will wait patiently on an answer on to work together with you all to figure out what might be causing this behavior.

Windows 10 Build 10547 & Hero Lab Connectivity

I'm a part of the Windows 10 Insider program and currently have build 10547 installed on my Surface Pro 1.

I'm unable to connect to the hero lab license servers to reactivate my license or access upgrades. Any attempt to do so (I've uninstalled and reinstalled, ensured firewall rules are set, etc.) results in the error message attached to this post (ERR_CORE_INTERNET_CANCEL).

It was working on just before I upgraded to the new build, so no new software have been installed beyond the new OS build itself.

That is the same issue I have with the Windows 10 preview build 10547 that was why I mentioned it. Sorry to see some missed it before upgrading.

Small update on the current status: been contacted at the moment to start working on troubleshooting this issue.

I am seeing the same issue on preview build 10547. Unable to contact server or upgrades. Please let me know if you need another person to test/troubleshoot it.

I just received an email with a beta version. This beta version fixed the issue for me (I did do a clean install of hero lab just in case).

Just a heads up to everyone on the Insider fast ring. There is a new build out for Windows 10 (10565 build).

The BETA client some of the insiders on the fast ring are currently using seems to be working at least with the update server. My license hasn't been reset yet so I can't confirm if the communication with the license server is fully working yet.
(Also tested the current live build of Hero Lab the same errors exist as there was in the 10457 build. So the beta build is currently still a requirement for fast ring users)

I will report back as soon as my reset has gone through so everyone will know the status on the new build.

Update: The license communication is also fully working. With that it seems the Beta build is fully functional in regards to this new build

I don't know if the slow ring now got the 10457 build. If so there is a big chance you might have to contact support and ask for a test build of Hero Lab.

I'm running Build 10565 and cannot connect to Hero Lab. I'm waiting on tech support to get back to me. Thanks for posting this information.

Was sent hl73_beta574 and it still doesn't work for my Win 10 machine. I'd really like to use it on my laptop. And had planned on purchasing some additional games and data packages, but am going to wait. Not sure if the limited use I have right now is worth it.

Are there any other programs that will let you build Shadowrun 5e and Savage Worlds characters?

I'm also running into this "can't connect" issue with Windows 10. I'm an Insider running the Windows 10 fast ring updates. Submitted a ticket a couple days ago before I saw this thread. At least now I know it's a known issue.

Seeing I haven't heard anyone else having issues with the beta version I expect something else must be going on for you. My best guesses I can give are:

1. Servers might have been down/giving an error (If this was the case then it should work just fine now. I can at least contact/connect to them)
2. Firewall or something else blocking the communication

Best to contact support and try to work out what is causing the issue still for you.
