GenCon news?

What I learned at Gencon

by Pollution

The meet and greet was at a bar, not a restaurant or pub.
Rob is a hot sauce wimp.
Mathias doesn't talk a lot (and it's Math-I-Ass, not Math-es)
Liz is very short, but my wife is still shorter (you're taller than somebody Liz, OWN IT!)
ChiefWeasel is not a 40 year old man, and we do not know each other (but she's got some neat-o ears).
Some players want Print, not because they are Luddites, but because their players are.
Always back your data up to the cloud. ALWAYS.

These have been the important updates from GenCon, as witnessed by Pollution.

The basics haven't changed much since earlier this year. However, the functionality has been substantially fleshed out. Lots of critical bits of logic that were missing before are now in place and working well.
It's just hard to see that stuff in a video. (No harder than just typing it, and much faster to read. :)

Some players want Print, not because they are Luddites, but because their players are.
Some GMs want Export/Print because not everyone uses Realm Works, no matter how non-Luddite they are otherwise. :P

Sad you didn't mention anything about my fashionably late entrance or my epic beard. But then, I think you were all the way at the other end of the tables, so I won't hold it against you.

What I learned at the meetup:

ShadowChemosh's last name (Shh, it's a secret!)
GenCon's recent changes to exhibitor booth assignments are very unfriendly to new and smaller companies
Anna Meyer is way more badass than anyone else at the table (website here: http://ghmaps.net/ )
Michigan has some very unfriendly to workers laws, and at least some employers exploit this and their employees to the maximum extent. Sucks to be poor in Michigan!
People from the peninsula in Michigan are called "Yoopers" as a shorthand for Upper Peninsula or "UP".

Now a return to your regularly scheduled forums!

They had a pretty extensive food menu - vastly more than any "bar" I've been to. It's always been my understanding that makes it a "pub", but I could be wrong.

In the UK, lots of pubs don't serve food at all. It depends on the pub.

OB: gaming. Often the most important place in a town will be the drinking place where the characters meet up.

Purely from the name, Loughmiller's Pub & Eatery sounds a lot like "bar/restaurant" to me.

I haven't gone to a place that serves alcohol but not food in years, but I don't drink so I don't seek such places out.

I took my kid with me for the meet and greet. He's 17.

No persons under 21 allowed inside = Bar.
Under 21 allowed = Pub.

Worst part? I ate lunch there at least once a week for a year and forgot completely that it was a bar.

Good times though.

Is that an Indiana thing or a definition I haven't heard before? There's no such distinction under Minnesota law as far as I can tell.

It's a definition I came up with after having spent so much time in MN and WI over the summers for vacation.

To me, a BAR is someplace you must be 21 to enter.
A PUB is somewhere that doubles as a restaurant, so anyone can come (with parents).
