How to remove custom race?

I had made my character using the "Custom race - Advanced" selection, and chose a bunch of options to mimic the custom race for my GM's world we were playing. I had to use a bunch of adjustments in the adjustments tab to get it exactly correct though.

However, since then, I've learned more about Hero Lab and have made a custom race in the editor that is exactly the stats of the race.

The problem is, when I switch my race away from "Custom race - Advanced" and choose the new race (or any other race, even human) validation fails with tons of errors:

Humanoid: This selection is not permitted
Custom Language: This selection is not permitted
Standard: This selection is not permitted
... and so on.

I can't figure out how to remove those selections from the hero! Even swapping back to the "Custom Race - Advanced" race just lets me change those options, but not remove them.

Do I have to remake my character in a new portfolio to fix this? =(
 
I have had the same problem. It just will not go away just like if you have a mythic character and remove mythic it still stays. I had to delete the character and start over. I don't use the custom race option due to too many problems.
 
If you add the new version of the character into the same portfolio, it makes it easy to move all your items over to the new version, and you can then delete the old version when you're happy.

What is happening is when you switched races you didn't first remove all the 'Picks' (Stuff you chosen) on your custom race.

So switch back to your Custom Race and then manually remove all the stuff you added. HL does not remove all that stuff just because you changed races.

No different than if you had added a level of cleric and add domains and other choices and then removed the cleric level. All those 'choices' are not automatically removed.
