Contain a Monster in a Scence

It seems like I was once able to contain a monster article inside a scene, but now it will not let me do so. I like to duplicate monster articles with the specific info for the game and then move them to that scene for easy access and to get the edited articles out of the monster category. Did this change in the last update? If so can we get it back?

It was a few versions ago that they removed the ability to mix articles from the Mechanics Reference and the Story/World Almanac in the same category hierarchy.

Perhaps if you duplicated the monster article and then move it into the Story or World almanac before setting up the Containing Topic, then you can get your structure back?

I'll experiment. Will it let me move an article to the story almanac at all? I might have to change it to another category. I'm a bit perturbed at the removal of the feature. What is the reasoning for it. The whole idea of RW is being able to customize and use it as you see fit. Being able to duplicate a monster and put into the scene container was very handy for me during a game.

I can't find any way to do this anymore. I guess I will have to use links to the monster article (which is the way they intend me to do it I think), but its frustrating they have forced me to do it their way. Now my monster category is going to get bloated. For example, I have a "Ruin Monster" in the monster category, but each monster is slightly different each encounter. I just duplicated the entry, made the changes, saved it, and moved it to the scene is was going to be used in. Now I will need to go back and delete them, let seldom or never used monsters fill up the category, or create a new category for all my monsters. Am I missing something? This is frustrating.

If you have HL (and the monsters are in there), then I would store the profile for the monster in each individual encounter. The profile would then contain the specific customisation you have for the monster.

Yeah, that is great solution for systems that are supported with Hero Lab. At the moment we are playing 7th Sea which is not a supported system. I do think using a stats snippet in a scene category may be a workable solution, but I wish the feature had not been nixed.
