Hi,

I'm really interested in using Realm Works for an upcoming campaign, but am concerned about data portability. The idea of entering a ton of game data into a proprietary app/service makes me very nervous -- I've already got years of old campaign data in file formats I can't get into anymore already and don't want to perpetuate the problem.

Is there any chance there'll be a comprehensive export feature in Realm Works sometime soon?
 
We do not know. But there is a printing & export request in the feature request forum open and in this thread it was announced that such functionality will be added at a later time.

How exactly it will look like we do not know (yet).
 
Plus, as long as you save the installer and make backups, if LWD ever sunset RW, you can bet they'll enable "local only" storage, so it would just be a case of installing and restoring from backup.
 
Being able to just access our data after RW goes away isn't a solution. The data needs to be transportable. It's on the to-do list per LWD.
 
This has been said in various places before, but I'll say it again here...

If we ever sunset Realm Works, we WILL let you get your data out of the product. Period. If it's the very last feature we ever add, it will absolutely get added, even if I'm the one that has to add it myself. Hopefully, this will help someone out there sleep easier tonight. :)

Thanks Rob, I know you feel like its a redundant question, but still nice to hear that the Big Kahuna will do it himself it ever comes to that point...... personally I am hoping RW out lives me.:D
