Tutorial 2 - Adding a Race

When were the tutorials for the Editor created? Because I think they are WAY out of date.

I got through Tutorial 1 and posted the problems it has that needs fixed. Now I'm trying to get through Tutorial 2 and it is WAY off. I got through creating the new Storm Elf then it breaks down. The tutorial explains how to look for the Racial Weapons, deselect the long sword and longbow and replace them with javelin and morning star. The only problem is that long sword and longbow are not selected. When I add javelin and morning star, save it, test it, then look in HL at the race not only can the character choose javelin and morning star but the character can also choose long sword and longbow.

Looking around the editor I found Elven Weapon Familiarity (RaceSpec) in the Bootstrap but can't find where it's coming from.

At the constant prodding from ShadowChemosh I am trying to learn the editor by going through the tutorials, but it can't be done if the tutorials don't match the product. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, tutorials 1-6 were created back in the d20 files, and have not been updated in a while. Even if some of the details have changed, the overall process will still be the same.

#7 and #8 were done for Pathfinder.

The "New Copy" is the same and one place to select the "Racial Weapons" is the same, but that's about it. They really need to update the tutorials. They need to hire ShadowChemosh to redo the tutorials. (You're not doing anything are you ShadowChemosh?) The tutorials are no good to someone totally clueless and sometimes I feel like I'm in that category. I would even donate to a Kickstarter to hire ShadowChemosh to redo the tutorials if I had to. :D

I am totally not! ;)

On the serious side the documentation is a little out of date. It still does help with getting people into the editor and starting.

I am in the same boat though as LW and that is "Time" is the issue not money. I have wanted to for a long time do more videos and get a Website up for the community on this stuff. But I can either do documentation or I can fix a package or put out a new package. At the end of the day its one or the other. Which is the same boat that LW is in. They can put out new content and fixes or they can do documentation.

Unfortunately its the evil side of programming. :(

*sigh* I was afraid you'd say something like that, ShadowChemosh. It never hurts to ask. :D

I'll continue to stumble through the ancient tomes while waiting for Gen Con and the seminar I signed up to learn the Editor.

Come with questions prepared ruhar, first half is probably going to be lecture, and the latter half will be audience participation.

I'll work on it Aaron. I wish I could bring my laptop but I don't want to drag it around all day.

You would use the laptop for what? Maybe you could e-mail me something relevant and I could bring it with?
