Upgrading Evasion when two classes have it

I want to have a character that receives Evasion and then switches classes and gets Evasion again to get Improved Evasion instead. Specifically for a Rogue has Evasion and becomes a Shadow Dancer and get Evasion again, I want the Shadow Dancer Evasion to look if Evasion already exists and if so, changes to give Improved Evasion. Is this possible?

Thanks.

I think this is included in the Evasion special, but I'm at work and not in front of my laptop, so I may not be remembering this correctly.

I tried it in the code (created a character and leveled up until I had Evasion in both classes) and it just listed Evasion and Evasion (Ex) but didn't give Improved Evasion. Is the code ignoring it because it shows one as having the Ex so it doesn't bump up to the Improved if it gets it added afterward?

The (Ex) shouldn't matter. It sounds like there might be a bug with one of the classes. Which two classes does your character have?

I don't see anything in d20 about evasion upgrading itself. Uncanny dodge does this but not evasion. So if trying to script an auto upgrade you may wish to see how uncanny dodge works and mimic it's behavior.

Evasion doesn't upgrade itself.

I have a scout / rogue at 11th level and nowhere does it say on any class with evasion that you get the upgraded improved evasion!

It seems to update for a single class Shadow Dancer (Evasion at 2nd, Improved Evasion at 10). Though the Hero Lab Shadow Dancer tab shows it twice at 10th level.

After looking at this my DM wanted to make it so any character that gets Evasion twice gets Improved Evasion. So a Ranger turning Rogue or vice versa as well as Ranger or Rogue going Shadow Dancer.

Looks like bodrin is right. Since this would be a house rule, its not something I would fix in the community set. If you are familiar with the editor, you could make some changes in a personal file to have this work on a case-by-case basis. Otherwise, you might just have to keep track of this manually.

As for the Shadowdancer bug, that was reported in the bug thread, and hopefully will be fixed.

Evasion doesn't upgrade, it's Uncanny Dodge that does. However, I did recreate my Evasion special so that it only appears once (set it to unique).
