I signed up for and will be attending your Realm Works seminar, which in truth signing up for that seminar led me to this program. I'd like to know what to expect at that seminar. Is it just a tutorial or are there other benefits to attending?

Bruce

EDIT: The reason I ask is there is a chance I may not show up because of other events I am trying to get into.

Madmaxneao,
Generally what happens at a seminar like this is (unless it specifically SAYS tutorial/walk-though seminar) the speaker will talk about what is going on with the team of Realm Works. Go over some tips and uses for it, and then talk about the future of Realm Works. Then after all that they will do a Q&A. This si a great seminar type if you want to know what is going on behind the scenes. It is pretty cool to hear about the back history and the present and future too. :)

I do recommend both seminars because the one I speak of above is cool to hear and to get some insight on the creation and what went in to it. The second type I alluded to as well is great.. because to be able to sit down with a Realm Works Developer and get a direct tutorial from him/her and to be able to ask questions and such as you are learning things is very cool. To me I am jealous as I am unable to go to the convention this year. Either way I wish you well. :)

There are FOUR different Realm Works seminars at GenCon, each with a distinctly different focus and purpose. So I honestly don't know how to answer your question. Which one did you sign up for?

The Realm Works Tips and Tricks on Friday at 4pm.

It does say to bring your own material, I'm not sure what they mean by that.

If it's feasible to set up, a video of the seminars would be appreciated, for those of us for whom attendance isn't feasible!

It's a seminar, so no materials are necessary. :) If your schedule permits it, I would highly recommend attending "Realm Works® 101 – Streamlined Campaign Management for GMs & Players" (SEM1453920). That is our introductory seminar - best for individuals that haven't used Realm Works before or haven't really dug into the program. We'll be walking through the basics of Realm Works - explaining the benefits and walking through basic functions. "Tips & Tricks" is geared towards people that have used Realm Works before - focusing more how you can leverage the various features of Realm Works to get more out of the program. That said, individuals that go to "Realm Works 101" and then "Tips & Tricks" will likely find value in it too, even if they haven't used Realm Works yet.

That's our plan! We're going to test it out at Paizo Con. :)

I am going to assume by the middle of August I will have learned a lot from these forums. By then RW 101 probably wouldn't be that helpful. Besides I have an event scheduled at that time.

Why did I purchase RW now if I don't learn anything by then through the RW teams and the users on these forums?

Whoops, it sounded like you hadn't purchased the program yet and were hoping to learn more about the program from the seminar before diving in. Yeah, by participating in our forums, watching the tutorial videos, and reading the documentation before Gen Con, you should be able to benefit a lot from the Tips & Tricks. :)

I purchased it this weekend. Unfortunately I am having issues with adding a new "Profession" snippet to replace the "Class" snippet. The games I primarily play, HARP and Rolemaster, both use profession instead of class to designate what your character's chosen field of adventuring is.
