Just started getting this warning...

Seeing it on every machine I have Hero Lab installed on whenever I open older .por files. It doesn't seem to be affecting the file, but I don't have much of a clue as to what's changed that I'm now getting warnings.

Errors were encountered when loading the saved portfolio! A record of these errors can be found in the file "C:\Users\XXXXXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\hero_lab_load_issues.log". If you notice incorrect behaviors in your portfolio, please report it to the data file authors (you can contact them from the Help menu).

Have you uninstalled the community Bestiary and SGG data sets? Or do you get an error loading HL that is causing it to go into safe mode?

What your seeing is about Sources which is what you check mark in the Configure Your Hero window. So the .por files where saved on a computer that had the community packages installed and working. Now your opening them on a computer that does not have them working. The question is what changed?

No, both the Community Bestiary and the SSG data sets are loaded, and even working on all of my machines, and I also get this message on all of my machines.

Sorry but I have to go with they are not running. So start HL and then Pathfinder. When you get in on the "Configure Your Hero" window do you see the "Community Bestiary v2.6" info and a list of books underneath? Like this:


That is how you know the Community Bestiary is installed and running as I think HL has gone into safe mode and is not loading any .user files.

My thought is that its not actually running, maybe installed, otherwise you wouldn't get a message about all the missing sources if those sources where present.

Can you give a screen shot of what your "Configure Your Hero" window looks like?

Ah... 2.4 instead of 2.6. Apparently it's stopped updating or something.

Ummm I was not expecting that at all. So far every time someone has emailed me or PMed about this its been that something prevented .user files from loading. My bad I was "assuming" as this doesn't make sense...

Could you email the .por file so I can see what it does over here? I am really not sure what is causing that. Email is my forum id (at)yahoo(dot)com.

Just an idea I have no idea if it will work but open a .por up and then go to "Portfolio->Strip Missing Sources". If its grayed out then I am sorry out of ideas.

I did the strip missing sources, and now I no longer get the warnings AND everything is still there. So that fixed things though I don't understand why. Everything is still working like it should, just the warnings went away.

Sadly, I didn't think to make a copy of the POR before I did that... I'll see if I can reproduce it and if I do, I'll send you a file that seems to have the problem still.
