Query from one of my players....
"The SRD programme is still adding 30 ghost pounds to Iduril's equipment total, but a simple stroke of the pencil can deal with that. The sample characters (that you sent) vary: the Bard is spot on, the Druid credited with 121 lbs when carrying 94, the gnome is given 94.5 when carrying 50.5, the half-orc has 140.5 for 121.25, the halfling Cleric suffers under 114.5 when actually carrying 87.5 and the Monk's 35 lb gear weighs in at 37 lbs." Is there something we're missing? I know I can overwrite it, but what are the character's carrying that's being counted in the encubrance? Could it be armor? (We've excluded the possibility that it's weapons.) -- Lexin GM from Gwynedd, Wales - seriously old school - playing RPGs since 1980! Tools: Realm Works, HeroLab, Campaign Cartographer 3+ |

Without seeing any files my first guess might be coins? 25 coins = 1 pound, you'll want to configure each character (using Ctrl-K) and check the optional setting for each one.
You could have turned the coin weight off on the Bard and left it on for the others, or is the Bard just that poor all the time? Also, armor weight is added into total weight carried whether worn or not. |

I think it must be armour then, but the amounts don't seem to make sense in that case.

Looking at it again, that would mean that the armour is being counted twice, once as 'gear' and once being worn. That can't be right, can it?

You can also put your cursor over the weight in the basics column of each hero and it will tell you exactly what they are carrying that contributes to that weight. I'm quite sure HL can't be counting armour twice, unless your characters have two sets of armour. I've never seen HL make errors with weight. I'm much more likely to believe that your player is looking at the Gear tab and not counting the weight displayed (on other tabs) for armour AND/OR weapons. Money is the other very common thing that people forget about.
Can you post a copy of the portfolio, or even a PDF of one of the characters? Rather than guessing, we could actually look and find out what's happening. Last edited by Dami; May 10th, 2017 at 03:39 AM. Reason: Another thought |

I'm uploading a PDF of one of the characters the player mentions has this problem.

Oh, and I think I've set it so that money doesn't weigh anything.

It took a while to work it out, but HL is correct: ONE crossbow bolt weighs 0.075lb, 200 bolts weighs 15lb. The character sheet under 'Gear' (on both PDF and in HL) show the weight in pounds of a SINGLE item, but the Gnome carries 200 bolts, 10 pitons, 10 rations and 10 torches - this is where the "extra" 44.175lb comes from. The other characters with discrepancies most likely have multiple similar items. |

Thank you, it would never have occurred to me that the software showed the weight of one of this type of item, though it should have. I'm very grateful for the efford you put in to resolve this for me, and for my puzzled player.

No problem. After thinking about it this morning - I'm going to report it as a bug. I feel that the Character Sheet (if not the HL display as well) should show the total weight not the individual weight with multiple items.
