Special and Core choices in chaos

I may be wrong, but if my Chaos army is led by a demon, shouldn't demonic units be core choices and mortal units be specials? It's currently not this way.

It is currently that way if you only select your army subtype as Daemonic.

yes. if you are using a mortal army you cant even make a demon your general, i think

There is a "Master of Mortals" deamonic gift that allows the deamon to lead mortal armies.
