So, I have an 3rd-party 5e adventure with a custom monster that states it sames states as the Priest but with X, Y, Z changes.
I tried to make a copy of the priest in the Community SRD files, but the spells are all just names in text of a racial attribute. So I can't have the spells listed in a spells tab, nor can I make use of spell slots. So I then used the custom monster option, but can't see any way to get access to spell slots, etc. unless I give levels of the spell-castor class, which would be fine, but I don't want all the other class stuff that comes with it. I can make the spells innate-casting spells, which get me a spell tab with spell lists and hover-over descriptions, but not the spell slots tracker. Short of creating a whole new class, is there anyway I can create, say the Priest from the monster manual so that I can have the spell list as well as the spell slots? Why don't you just give him class levels?

Because that comes with all kinds of additional features and abilities that you then have to ignore or spend time removing.
But I was just being unobservant. Near the bottom of the "custom monster details" are fields to choose spell list, casting ability, and caster level. Exactly what I needed, right under my nose.
