System Info:
MacOS Mojave Beta (10.14) (build 18A326g) 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB memory Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB I am considering purchasing Hero Lab with Pathfinder. As a test, I installed Hero Lab and used it in demo mode. I found it to be laggy with many instances of "beachballs", especially the further along I went in character creation. I closed all applications, and that didn't seem to help. I also checked Activity Monitor and Hero Lab was maxing out the CPU and not using very much memory at all (~400 MB). I also tried the Starter Edition which had similar results. I understand not having purchased the software (and also running a beta MacOS) I expect no support, but thought it was odd that my computer struggled even when no other applications were running, given its specs. |

I run a Mac Mini with 10.13 and do not have that issue at all. Usually have iTunes and mail running in the background while using HL and Shadowrun.

You should not be having problems with that setup. I run similar but on Windows and it flies along.

Interesting. I did run the Windows version through Wine last night and it seemed to work just fine. I'll keep looking into it. Thanks all for your responses.

Are there any other processes running away? What is RAM and CPU allocation?

CPU is 15% (total) and RAM is 13 GB free on "idle". I don't see any large processes besides system stuff. When Hero Lab is running, CPU usage jumps to 100% (application) and 40% (total) but memory barely moves (additionally 400 MB). From what I understand, 100% means it is only running the application on one core, full usage of all 4 cores would show a percentage of 400%. When doing heavy processes that use multiple cores I normally see stuff like 150% etc.

Sounds like a leak in one of the core APIs of the beta. Consider posting a bug fix to Apple's beta team

I reported it. If I hear anything from Apple, I'll be sure to let y'all know.
