I have never really done anything of significance in the editor (one simple house rule and a couple of magic items). I am now faced with creating a new monster for an adventure I am running for my daughter.

How/where do I get started with creating a new monster?

Thanks,
Mike

If you have access to the bestiary data files, look at some existing examples.

There is also tutorials available from the help menu and we are a helpful bunch on the forums too.

For me the best way of creating new monsters is to create the creature assigning the racial ability scores first, Natural Armor etc, then define the special abilities as text only items.

Once that is complete bootstrap the specials, weapons etc.

Then generate a statblock, compare it too whatever you have determined are needed for your monster, then write the scripts to make it all work properly.

YMMV

Hope this helps.
