Subject: "must" attribute isn't working properly

Hello,
I tried to post this yesterday, but I don't think it worked. I
appologize if it is posted a second time.

I'm trying to build a data file. I'm using the 'rang' and 'must'
attributes to get the spin buttons for multiple weapon selection on a
unit and for roster validation.

The 'rang 'attribute seems to be working fine as I get the spin
button. When I add the 'must' attribute it doesn't seem to recognize
the category of the option.

I have an assault rifle assigned to the Ranged category. I can
have between 2 and 8 of them in a squad, depending on the squad's
size and number of special weapons. With the default being 4 for
minimum squad size. So I have the 'rang' attribute set to 'rang:2-8-
start@4'. That seems to be working.

I want the validation rules to notify the user when there aren't
enough or there are too many weapons assigned to the squad. I use
the 'must:categ=Ranged+Special+Heavy@min=#'
and 'must:categ=Ranged+Special+Heavy@max=#' attributes. When I load
the data file and select the unit I get a validation error no matter
how many weapons I assign the unit. The error is "Not enough options
of category 'Ranged+Special+Heavy' are assigned to unit 'Standard
Infantry Squad' (min unit size)." It doesn't matter what combination
of categories I check for I get the validation error.

I'm using version 1.4d of AB and the Construction Kit. I've tried
deleteing the definition file and recompiling it, rebuilding the
datafiles and stripping them down to just the unit and the options.
Everything I could think of. I've tried looking at some of the other
datafiles for other games and see how they've implemented it. I tried
duplicating the way it was done in other files and have them set up
nearly identical, except for different names for all the units and
options. No luck. I don't see what it is that I'm missing. Can anyone
shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

-Joe

Presumably by 'forces' you mean Races?

Have you used and legl: or hide: attributes on the weapon? How did you
link it (cost, incl, auto,... )?

An obvious answer, probably not what you're looking for: Are you sure
you made it be in the Ranged category?

A slightly less obvious answer: You're not using more: to add it, are
you? That *might* be causing the problem.

Post your files to the Vault and we'll take a look.

Yes I'm sure it's in the Ranged category.

No, I am using must. Right now I'm working with some files I created
with just the one unit in it. I'll post it shortly.

It works fine here; I'm running the... ahaha, I know what this is now

There's a bug in Army Builder 1.4d that makes this happening when you
haven't got any race attributes of a certain kind. If you add a race
attribute:

tlmt:gibbon-pct=100@max

That should fix it. When you get AB2, just delete the attribute. Has
that helped?

Warning:

These are based in the 1st edition of army list book four. This has been
out of date for well over a year.

I'm 95% through with updating these for both AB 2.0 and the 2nd edition of
the army list books. As usual, the Medieval Germans are the last to get
completed...

Subject: Warmaster data file

Hello,

I've had army builder for a while now, and its really a nice
product...makes quick battles for WHFB a snap!

Anyway, started getting into warmaster and downloaded the warmaster
data file. It's nice and all, but a list can get quite large because
you have to list each unit seperatly. I want to make it so you can
increase the amount of units but I'm having trouble finding where it
is to let me do that. I've opened used the tool to copy the datadef
file to a text file and couldnt find it in there, and I've tried
going into the construction kit as well. Once I can fix this so you
can have more then one unit I'll go though and take care of all the
math, I've played with the WHFB orcs a little so I know my way around.

Anyway, thanks for the help and the nice product

brian
