Scaling weapons with Character level

Hello. I am new to this so bear with me. I want to create a weapon who's powers and damage will scale with a characters level. So at lvl 1 it will be pretty basic and do a certain amount of extra damage and then at certain (yet undetermined) levels, the weapons powers will begin to emerge and the bonus damage would also go up. I created a weapon how I want it to be at level 1, but I have been unable to find a thread, or any idea of any other weapon of this type to mimic.
