Hi Guys,
In Paranoia, you have different coloured armour (ROYGBIV) I don't need to go into the full ramifications of this and how different coloured lasers react etc.
What I would like is the ability to create "Reflec Armour" and then, at pick time, select the colour (i.e. it will be mostly cosmetic - I'll handle the rest when running the actual game)
My initial thought would be a bit like the Knowledge skill (choosing a Domain at pick time) It doesn't need to be anything more complex than a text field (again, Like Knowledge Domain)
I (with my limited knowledge) can't see how to do this

Thoughts anyone?

Actually, before we get bogged down in the mechanics of Paranoia perhaps the question should be "How do I add a free-flow text field to a thing that does not have one?". I presume it means modifying the compset?

You are right, there is no domain field on armor.

A few options come to mind, I put them in the order of simplicity.

1) Make an edge called "Color" where the player specifies the color in a domain. Give it a cost of 0 (Advancement Slots field is 0).

2) Make a new version for each armor type per color. So you would have "Body Armor (Red)", "Body Armor (Blue)", etc.

3) Make a script that applies the domain from #1 into armor that is on the character. This makes it so that "Body Armor" will display as "Body Armor (Red)" for a character that has put "Red" for his/her color. If you really want to do this I can write one.

Personally, I think #1 is the easiest, but that assumes that a character can ONLY wear armor of the specified color.

Evil wins because good rolls poorly .... or the players are not paying enough attention to the game.

I'm not sure why you'd want to do this. Armor's color can't be changed.
I've played Paranoia, and I know how that armor/laser color thing works. I think you need to use #2. A character can wear any armor they find, and each piece of armor is a set color.
Seeley's right, though. There's no provision for a variable field like that on Armor. It's never been needed before.

FYI - It's a spectrum, from red to violet. Armor only protects against it's color and lower on the spectrum. Red armor does nothing against an Orange laser, but Orange armor is effective against an Orange or Red laser.

Thanks for that SeeleyOne - looks like #1 is the best.
It looks like my amended post did not manage to get posted CapedCrusader - I was using this as an example for a free-flow text field against things that do not have them not specifically Paranoia.
