A new update of the Shadowrun 5 files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.

This update adds a new package - Shadowrun 5 Sourcebook Bundle #1. This includes Assassin's Primer, Gun Heaven III, and Stolen Souls, and will be getting at least one more of Catalyst's smaller books, although the exact book or books is still to be determined. This package is available for $9.99, and you can purchase it from the "Purchase Data Package" option in the License menu within Hero Lab.

A fourth book was also added in this update - 12 NPCs from Coyotes. Everything we've added from that book has been made available free to all our users. To use those NPCs, choose "Show Encounter Builder" from the Gamemaster menu, and you can import those NPCs (and the NPCs and critters from the core rulebook) into your portfolio.

This update also incorporates the 9/23/14 Run & Gun errata document, and updates the Shadowrun Missions rules to version 1.2 (10/1/2014), and also includes several bug fixes.

Here's the full change list for this update:
New Releases!

  • Content from Assassin's Primer, Gun Heaven 3 and Stolen Souls is now available in the new Supplements Package #1! You can purchase this by choosing "Purchase Data Package" from the License menu.
Enhancements & Changes

  • The Typical Border Guards and Sample Coyotes from Coyotes are now available in the Encounter Builder.
  • Incorporated the 9/23/14 Run & Gun errata.
  • Applied the changes from the Shadowrun Missions FAQ version 1.2 (10/1/2014).
  • Movement speeds are now listed on the printout.
Bug Fixes

  • If you were in advancement mode, and you were purchasing an item and purchasing modifications for that item at the same time (for example, prchasing a cyberlimb with Enhanced Agility), and you changed your mind about what rating to give that modification, the price of the total item would not reflect the changed cost of the modification.
  • The AP of the Ultimax MMG was incorrect.
  • Gecko Grip, added to a weapon with a stock, was not taking up the stock slot.
  • The price of the Auto-Assault 16 was incorrect.
  • YNT Softweave was doubling the capacity of armor, instead of increasing it by half.
  • The Perceptive Defender quality was displaying the text of Agile Defender, and was displaying the Physical limit instead of the Mental limit.
  • Critical strike was allowing multiple levels to be purchased for specific skills, but only one level should be available for each skill.
  • The Eagle mentor spirit was not offering the correct Magician ability.
  • Fixed several spelling errors like Saeder-Krupp being misspelled "Seader-Krupp"
  • The Toyota Gopher was grouped with the cars, not the trucks.
  • Based on the description text on Run & Gun pg. 60, the Actioneer Business Clothes from the core rulebook are made by Vashon Island. They've now been assigned to this manufacturer.
  • The manufacturer for the MCT EE Suit was incorrect.
  • The hard-shell briefcase is now set as a container.
  • The Kyujutsu martial art incorrectly offered Yielding Force (Riposte) and did not offer the Tricking technique.
  • The Electrochromic Clothing modification was misspelled.
  • On the printout and the mouse-over information for weapons, the Full Auto line was not calcualting its dicepool correctly - it was not incorporating recoil and recoil compensation.
  • Toxin/Disease Resistance rolls were not including Willpower.
  • The Enhanced Accuracy adept power did not work correctly if selected for an exotic melee weapon.
  • Forearm guards and SecureTech PPP Kits can now get armor modifications.
  • Adding a flashlight as an armor mod would give an error message that was meant for a flashlight being added to a weapon.
  • A vehicle had no way to add armor carried as cargo (which also meant that a character could not move his armor into a vehicle)
  • Several armor/helmet mods like sensor systems could only be added once to any piece of armor.
  • Several programs like the ShopSoft and BTLs could only be added once to any device.
  • The Brand Loyalty quality was penalizing unarmed strikes.
  • Ammo feed options like the choice between belt and clip feed on machine guns, or options that represented weapon configurations, like how the HK XM30 was currently assembled, could not be changed if you were in advancement mode and the purchase had been completed.
  • Several heavy armors like SWAT and Security armor were incorrectly set as hardened armor.
  • BTL programs and chips now offer the option to describe the details of that BTL.
  • Weapons with many accessories that each have a large list of mounts they have the option to use didn't always automatically settle on a valid combination of mounts to use for each accessory, even if there were enough mounts that all the accessories could be accomodated.
  • On a weapon without a certain slot, adding an accessory that has the option to go in that slot (for example, a guncam on a weapon with no barrel mount) would incorrectly report an error, even though there was another valid mount for that accessory.
  • The "Gear Build Point Limit" adjustment did not function. This has also been renamed "Karma to Cash Conversion Limit", so that the name better describes its effects.
  • Several Autosofts, when placed into a Rigger Command Console, would show up on the character's skill list, acting as if they were skillsofts.
  • Shock pads were available to smaller weapons like pistols, but should only be available to a "...rifle, shotgun, or heavy weapon..."
  • Custom gear that can be equipped (like Clothing) was displaying its name incorrectly.
  • When buying a Qi focus in advancement mode for a power that needs to make a choice (like Critical Strike), you weren't allowed to make that choice.
  • The limits on the number of Martial Arts Styles and Techniques that a PC may select during character creation were being applied to NPCs, who should be allowed to take whatever martial arts the GM decides to give them.
  • The skills of some NPCs were being limited to a rating of 6.
  • The Miniwelder fuel canister was not available for purchase.
  • Enhanced Strength/Agility and Armor on a cyberlimb were not properly adjusting their cost and availability for cyberware grade.
  • The tracking skill now shows the Mental limit instead of the Physical limit.
  • The Ritual Spellcasting focus was functioning as if it were a Spellcasting focus.
Data File Authoring

  • Added a Memberships tab to the editor. Memberships are added on the social tab, and are to show a character's affiliation with a magical or mundane group. They can be set up with monthly membership costs that are applied when a character pays their monthly expenses.

We found a bug in 1.5 that could be really nasty for those who owned Supplements #1 but not Run & Run, so today's 1.6 update fixes that. Here's the complete change list:

Enhancements & Changes

  • -
Bug Fixes

  • If you purchased Supplements Package #1 without owning Run & Gun, an error message would be reported while starting up.
  • Spirits were getting double the number of optional powers that they normally should.
  • The AP of the HK XM30 was incorrect.
  • The Foregrip and Underbarrel Weight were not applying their effects.
  • The Läel, Laés, and Laésal wine items were causing problems, because of the special special characters in their names. Unfortunately, due to the way this had to be fixed, if you have purchased these items on a character, there may be errors reported when you first start the character, and the items will have vanished. You will need to re-purchase those items and re-save the character if they had purchased these items.
