WTF? Windows updated, AGAIN!!

So, I just got updated by Windows, AGAIN. Every time that Windows sees fit to update itself, AGAIN, not only do I not get any warning or choice or even a notification that this happened, AGAIN, but I also have to resubmit my license for Herolab, AGAIN. And, while I wait, AGAIN, I'm stuck in Demo Mode.

Previously, this hasn't been much of a problem. But, this time, it has been less than 120 days since my last license refresh, so I have to wait for Support to approve my license refresh. Until then, I'm stuck in Demo mode and cannot save any of the files I'm working on, even if those files existed here before the update, and are only using data packs I legally owned before that update. And, I have 2 days to generate 12 NPCs for our campaign. Yay.

Guys, can you please write in a line of code that can confirm that I'm still using the same computer, but just suffered another Windows update, AGAIN!!!

Thank you.

You can set Windows to download but not install updates automatically.
Or to not download them at all, unless you check for an update.

Depending on your version of windows, it will be in a slightly different area.
But it will be somewhere under Settings > Window Update.

It's trickier under Windows 10. You can set your connection to Metered, or set it to delay restarts (using Active Hours in the Anniversary Update).

Or install Windows in a VM and run Hero Lab inside the VM. Now you can shutdown the VM and/or roll it back to a previous snapshot very easily. I try to do everything inside virtual machines (although I don't use Windows, for obvious reasons).
