Wrong Data File Folder (Wine)

I am trying to save a file in the editor. The path is /data/4e but I get the following message when trying to save the file:

"The folder you chose is not the game system's data file folder. Any files you save here cannot be compiled or spliced, and will be ignored by Hero Lab when you load the game. Are you sure you want to save the file here?"

Not sure why that wouldn't work...it's the right data directory, no?

Thanks for the help. Just a few hurdles to get this all working smoothly.

I understand that in newer versions of Windows, the program files folder is a wierd hidden version of the folder, to "help" users not accidently modify the details of their programs.

Have you installed HL in the program files directory?

If so, when running HL, I recommend right-clicking on the HL icon and choosing "run as administrator" - you can also use the Properties option to make this permanent.

No, it's .wine/drive_c/Hero Lab/data/4e

I don't think you can fool with Administrator stuff in Wine (and don't have to I don't think)...

First, are you sure you're saving the file into the correct folder? Saving to /data/4e makes sense if you're using the 4e game system in its default folder; if you imported it into a different folder, you'd need to save it there instead. (Hero Lab should automatically put you in the correct folder when you go to save the file.)

If you're putting the folder in the correct file, it might be the case that WINE is reporting filenames inconsistently to Hero Lab. I'm not sure if we can do anything about this, but I'll investigate this for our next bug fix release.

Yes, it's the default folder.

Thank you for looking into it. Your support of your software even on Linux gets high marks from me! :)

For what it's worth, I restarted HL and it seems to parse the data; the power I added was available. Not sure...but it seems to partially work I guess.
