What the hell was in that last update??

Forgive me for sounding a little terse, but a ton of my custom stuff is just gone since the latest update. Three hours before I'm supposed to be starting Carrion Crown. *grrrr*

The first screen on trying to load the adventuring party is this:

The next is:

Then the character loads, but looking in the configuration, all my custom stuff is gone:

Does anyone have any suggestions here, other than a complete re-install of HeroLab?

Okay...seems to have been fixed by manually deleting all the Modern Path stuff from the C:\ProgramData\Hero Lab\data\pathfinder folder.

Edit: provided I open everything, reset the configurations and then save them again...*sigh*

*fingers crossed...breathing slowing...blood pressure coming down...*

Just in case this happens to you again...

When encountering issues while loading a system's files (base and user), HeroLab goes into "safe mode" and only loads the core files. So your files are not lost; you have to resolve the file/thing conflict within the user files you're using, reload HL and it should be fully functional again.

Resolving the conflicts is done by opening the editor; even if .user files are not loaded on startup, you have access to them from the editor and can modify them as required. In your case, there was a single thing ID used by 2 different things (pAgeChild); the boatload of error messages you subsequently got on opening your portfolio just happened because all of your .user files had not been loaded prior to opening the portfolio.

(Sorry if this explanation sounds a bit convoluted. Hope it helps!)

Thanks guys.

Again, sorry for sounding cranky in my OP. Had people literally on their way for the game and I panicked!

All seems okay now.

Cheers,

Al.
