What is a trait

What is a trait? The book says that a trait is "Attribute and skills". I have a Faction name Culture that gives a +1 die trait bonus. I have it working for both Attributes and skills. The description for the culture reads as so

Lucky enough to be born into a life of inherited luxury and privilege. Often this includes improved genetic filtering and the elimination of any existing congenital defects. Characters with this Culture should not start the game with Hindrances that include physical disabilities or impairment.

Benefits: +1 die-type to one Trait under d12

I have it where you can pick either a skill you have or an attribute that is d10 or below, but the question I have as it reads on the last part of paragraph, it sounds like it is only for attributes but it says traits and not just attributes.

How does the rest of the community read it. Sense I will be releasing it for every ones use I thought I would ask.

I've seen more than a few instances where the term "Trait" is used to obviously mean on "Attribute", even in some of the official Pinnacle sources. Not often, but just enough that I think it's not an uncommon mistake. Personally I'd say leave it like you have it, though. For the most part people will probably take it as an Attribute (after all there is at least a way to raise 2 skills with a level-up, but Attributes will always cost a full level-up by themselves.) For those who prefer to take it as a skill I can still see that text justifying it. Being bred in a way that makes the character particularly good at being stealthy, or Knowledgeable in a field, etc. So I'd take it at the face value of "Trait", personally.

If it's some released setting you can also check on the peginc forum, or of that specific game company has a forum you could try there. Pinnacle is awesome about getting back pretty darned quick to clarifications on their rules on the forums.

Well it's not Pinnacle, it's StoryWeaver (High-Space). So I guess I can check there to see if they have a forum, but I thought the same thing about leaving it as is - since it works great. I used the professional edge script and changed it to fit what i wanted it to do. Believe it or not I got it to work with a drop down box and everything. It lets you pick an attribute or skill that's on your character that is a d10 or less and gives that trait a +1 die raise. It hides any trait that is higher then a d 10.

Ok thanks CapedCrusader, I will go with both since you and zarlor both went with both in your statements. That works for me, since I have it working for both right now.
