The folks at our internet provider are now officially complete and utter
idiots. It seems that they physically changed over our IP addresses over
the weekend and never bothered to inform us. To top it off, the multiple
tech support people I spoke with on Monday were clueless enough that they
had me provide them with the IP addresses were we using (the old ones) and
never bothered to notice they were now invalid. I finally reached a
functionally competent person this morning and found out what I should have
been told more than 24 hours ago. Boy, I can't wait until the manager gets
in and I tear him a new one....
Anyways, things will likely be down for another 24-48 hours. I've got the
correct new IP addresses and I've configured them with the registrar, but
they will take 24-48 hours to propogate around the globe. So things will be
operational again as soon as your ISP gets the updated info. That means
things will start working for some people before others. So please wait a
full 48 hours before sending us further "the site is down" emails.
Sorry for the hassle, everyone. But it's all due to incompetence that is
outside our control. :-(
