Colen and I have been discussing the idea of hosting semi-regular web seminars that explore the ins and outs of authoring data files. The seminars would each have a primary theme, with some focused on adding content to existing game systems and others on developing new data files from scratch with the Authoring Kit. The idea is to start each seminar with some specific techniques and then open it up for questions, allowing it to go where you guys want. Seminars would nominally run about 1-1.5 hours in length.
How would this work? We have a WebEx account that we can use for this purpose. I believe the maximum number of participants in an online meeting is 25 attendees, but that ought to be fine. Since WebEx has a playback option, we'll also look into recording the seminars for later viewing by those who can't attend the seminars.
So now come the questions for you guys....
1. How many of you would be interested in this?
2. What topics would you most want to see us cover?
3. What days and times would be the best for holding the seminars to maximize participation? Remember that we've got folks in a wide range of timezones, so be sure to specify your timezone when making your suggestions.
4. What details have I *not* mentioned here that you feel are important?
Please share your thoughts on this idea. If there's sufficient interest, we'd like to start the seminars in the next few weeks.
