Warlock Invocation Help Needed

I am trying to add a new Patron ability that does the following:

If the Warlock does not have a given Invocation (Devil's Sight) then it gives it to him.

If he does have the invocation, then it adds a different one (Blindsight...a custom invocation the same as the racial Blindsight ability),

I have tried a multitude of ways to make this happen, but nothing works.... any idea how I can get this to work?
