Version 4.8 can now be installed from the automatic updates.

The APG is done! This release adds the prestige classes, the cursed items, and the artifacts from the APG.

There were also a few updates from Paizo - v3.0 of the Core Rulebook errata and v3.0.2 of the Pathfinder Society Organized Play rules.

This release also adds the Specific Cursed Items from the Core Rulebook, Pathfinder issue 38, and some bug fixes.

Here's the change list, copied from the FAQ:

Enhancements & Changes

  • Incorporated the changes from the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook Errata v3.0. (this can be downloaded from Paizo's Website).
  • Updated the Pathfinder Society rules to version 3.0.2.
  • Added content from Pathfinder 38.
  • Added the Battle Herald prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Holy Vindicator prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Horizon Walker prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Master Chymist prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Master Spy prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Nature Warden prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Rage Prophet prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Stalwart Defender prestige class from the APG.
  • Added the Cursed Items from the APG.
  • Added the Artifacts from the APG.
  • Added the Cursed Items from the Core Rulebook.
  • Added the "No Artifacts" and "No Cursed Items" options to the configure hero settings, within the "Magic Items To Show" section of "Optional Rules". These will prevent artifacts or cursed magic items from being displayed in the list of magic items to purchase, to reduce the number of items shown for those characters who won't use these categories of items.
Bug Fixes

  • The Desperate Focus trait from Cheliax, Empire of Devils no longer gives an error when chosen.
  • The Plane (specify) favored terrain has been expanded to include many specific planes, like the astral, ethereal, plane of water, etc., so that they can serve as pre-requisites for the Horizon Walker's Terrain Mastery ability. If your character intends to take the Horizon Walker prestige class, I recommend you replace copies of Plane (specify) with the new versions. If you are not taking Horizon Walker levels, you do not need to fix anything.
  • Spells with a range of Personal may not be made into potions - the Custom Potion dialog now warns about this error.
  • Weapons set as counting as another weapon will now display as proficient when selecting weapons if the character has the proficiency level required for the "counts as" weapon.
  • The Aldori Dueling Sword should be in the Blades, Heavy group, rather than Blades, Light.
  • The knowledge skill bonus for a Ki Mystic Monk was being applied at 1st and 2nd level.
  • The Emergency Force Sphere spell should be 4th level, not 1st level.
  • The Dog, Riding should have a natural armor of +1.
  • The Whip, Scorpion should be a one-handed weapon, rather than a 2-handed weapon.
  • The BAB for a Monk's Flurry now incorporates BAB from other classes.
  • A Ranger 1/Rogue 1 was getting the Evasion ability.
Data File Authoring

  • The way xCount functions was fixed so that it is the maximum number of copies reached on any class, instead of the total number of copies reached on all classes. This makes it easier to stack class abilities by simply granting them to each class that grants them. The "Use Own Level" option in the editor disables this - xCount in that case is the total number of active copies on all classes (ex: Sneak Attack).
  • xTotalLev now exists for custom class specials as well as for class specials. All references to "linkage
.field[cTotalLev].value" can be replaced with "field[xTotalLev].value".
[*]The xExtraLev field now exists for custom class specials as well as for class specials. This field's value is added to xTotalLev, and any class specials added by this custom special will incorporate their parent's xExtraLev field into their own xTotalLev and xAllLev, allowing a modifier to be applied to the effective level of all specials added by a custom class special.
[*]Favored Enemies and Favored Terrains now specify the number of each ability available at each level, rather than specifying a starting level and presuming that one more is gained every 5 levels after that. This should not affect existing classes or characters with favored enemies/terrains.

It varies depending on the situation. While I was getting the APG content added, I generally updated every Friday - put out whatever I had done at the end of the work week (with occasional changes to that schedule when I had a project half-finished or had the files too torn apart to use when Friday afternoon came along, or didn't want to put out an update until thing X was done).

Now that the APG's finished, the update schedule will probably slow down, depending on how much work I've put into the Pathfinder files vs. all the other game systems I'm responsible for (Shadowrun, d20, Call of Cthulhu, Cortex). Exactly how much will vary depending on the circumstances.

I just noticed something with the Pathfinder Society Guide 3.0.2 update - that the Cav doesn't get Expert Handler, they get Skill Focus - Handle Animal. It was just something that stuck out at me. If /When the use for PFS play is enabled/checked, is this taken into affect? Is this the case with all such adjustments that PFS utilizes but not 'core' Pathfinder?
If so, awesome, and makes me appreciate HL even more. If not, is it something that can be implemented?

Whenever I turn off Hero Points, choose the bonus feat, save, and exit out of the character, the Hero Points option resets and I have to disable it again (I'm always one feat over the limit when I open the portfolio).

Not a big deal, just an annoyance, really.

Yes, the PFS rules setting in HL properly handles the alterations to Cavaliers, wizards, alchemists, the nobility domain, etc.

Cold Iron, I just tried this, and didn't encounter the problem you're describing:

Create a new character.
In the configure hero settings, turn on hero points, and press OK to save the settings.
On the configure hero form, check the "Don't Use Hero Points" option.
Save the character.
Press ctrl-n to get a new character
Open the file I had saved.

The configure hero settings are still correct, and the "Don't Use Hero Points" are still checked, and the bonus feat is still there.

Would you mind trying that same set of steps - that way we'll know if it's something I'm missing, or if it's something else about the character you're testing this on?

When you do encounter that problem, do the configure hero settings or the checkbox on the configure hero form change from when you check them to when you re-load the file?

I just did the steps, exactly as you said to (with 2 new characters), and it's still happening. For some reason, the 'Don't Use Hero Points' option below the starting cash becomes unchecked when I load back in. Anything checked off on the list to the right remains as it should.

Could be this whole thing is just a fluke with my system, specifically, if no one else is having this problem. I'll try re-downloading the files if it keeps up.

I'm not sure which of the recent updates this occurred in, because I've only just noticed it. The old "Copy" option when viewing the statblock seems to be gone. I now only have the option to either save to a PDF or save to a file, depending on which tab I select.

I don't know if anyone else is affected by this, but it's a real pain for me, as I always have copied the statblock to the clipboard and then pasted it into a Word document, where I could format it. More importantly, I could copy and paste as many characters as I wished, simply adding them to the Word document, something I can no longer do as all the options create an entirely new file for each character - this is a big hassle when putting together a document with, say, 50 or 60 NPCs.

Now I have to create a separate file each time, open up that file, copy from it and then paste into my Word document.

Could the next update please restore the option to copy to the clipboard - or at the very least allow the highlighting of the text in the statblock so we can use CTRL+C?

Thanks,

Al
