SR 5th ed. Version 2.9 of the Shadowrun 5 files for Hero Lab is now available

A new update of the Shadowrun 5th edition files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.

This update wraps up Howling Shadows, adding the Chimeric Creatures section from that book as a free update for all our users who have the Howling Shadows package.

Enhancements & Changes


  • The Chimeric Modifications section of Howling Shadows has been added as a free update for all users with the Howling Shadows package.
Bug Fixes


  • Added the "Numinous" specialty for perception, which applies to the test for noticing an astral form passing through you and for noticing a subtle spell. The relevant tests are described on pgs. 314 and 280 of the Core Rulebook.
  • The Pilot program on a drone and the Pilot Enhancement modification on a vehicle were not altering the vehicle's initiative.
  • In advancement mode, Metasapient AIs could not purchase programs and advanced programs on the Advances tab.
  • The Practice, Practice, Practice quality should not increase Notoriety.
  • The naga's bite was using 1/2 STR, but should use full STR.
  • Gecko Tips (tiny vehicle) could only be added to a vehicle with Bod < 3, but should be available for Body <= 3.

For those using the new beta, printing or generating a pdf of a character who had vehicles would cause Hero Lab to hang. The underlying problem turned out to be a bug in the Shadowrun files, so we've released a new version of the Shadowrun files.

Bug Fixes


  • Fixed a problem that could cause Hero Lab to hang when printing vehicles.
