First off Rob let me tell you Good job on AB3. As soon as I was able to
download it I did so and payed with it for hours (with the Warhammer 6th
Edition Rules). Very very stable for a 1st retail release.

However I did find one way to crash AB3 every time (and it did so on 2
Computers). Now I'm not sure if it's a Data File problem or and AB problem.

I'll post what I did to make it crash (since It's easy to do and I'm sure
others will end up doing it). Sorry if this is not the area to post but I
couldn't find anywhere on the Lonewolf site that was for buggs

Using Warhammer Fantasy Rule set I selected Vampire Counts. Selected the
Necromancer Hero. Then went to Arcane Items. From there it gives you all
your options available then I selected the one I wanted. I then went back
into options just to check out if there was a better Arcane item but thaught
against it so just hit OK but it purchased the 1st item on the list (which
was highlighted by default). I then went to uncheck mark it and poof...AB
crashes (ArmyBuilder.exe has encounted a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvience)

I've done it with all armies on both computers and can be replicated every
time.

The reason I posted it was becasue it's easy for me to do by just hitting Ok
because when you hit it is selected the highlighted item.

Sorry if this is not the place to post bugs but I just want sure.

Have a great holiday everyone,

I got a Problem too.
I made a rooster of a 2000 Points Highelf List and saved it.
After that i closed the AB3.
I started it again and tried to load my list again...no chance!
AB3 can´t recognize that there is a ready made rooster at all.
So, wahat´s the problem with it ?

Greetings, Michael

OK, this one is a BIG surprise to me. The last few days before release, I
was saving and loading rosters constantly. So there must be something
special about the way things are setup for the WFB files that all my tests
didn't replicate. Crap!

We'll definitely get this one fixed. And sorry for the inconvenience. :-(

Thanks for the kind words. It was a lot of work and I'm pretty happy with
the final result. :-) Colen deserves a large chunk of credit as well, since
he's slaved over AB3 as long as I have. :->

As for the crash bug, all I can say is <grumble> <grumble> <grumble>.

There are always a few bugs that slip through, regardless of how well
something is tested. And there's only so much you can do with a two-person
company. :-) I've been doing this for 25 years now (software development),
so I've just come to expect it. We knew there would be a few things that
folks would discover that we missed, so we planned for a bug fix release in
the near future. We'll definitely get this fixed soon. That being said, I
wasn't expecting crash bugs - those are just plain inexcusable - so I'm
bummed you found one right out of the chute. :-(

In general, if you run into obscure bugs, just send them directly to us at
support@wolflair.com. Nasty bugs like this are fine for this list, since
other folks are made aware of them and know what to watch out for.

Thanks, Rob

Actually, I don't know this is really a bug, just an odd way of
handling things. When you save a WHFB roster, the Save Current
Roster dialog box defaults the File Name to prepend with [WH6]. If
you write over that, save the file, then go to open the file, [WH6]*
appears in the File Name for the Open Existing Roster dialog box.
If your file does not start with [WH6] it will not be listed. Even
if you delete [WH6]* from the name and refresh the explorer box by
hitting Enter or clicking Open, your files will not show up.
However, if you type * in the File Name space and hit Enter/click
Open, you will be able to see your saved files. I'm not a
programmer, so I'm not sure if this is a program bug or a data files
issue, but this is at least a workaround until the issue can be
fixed.

Thanks for a super-cool update to a classic piece of software!

This behavior is due to trying to provide some automatic naming assistance
on rosters while making it work within the standard Windows dialogs for
opening/saving files. There are unfortunate limits to what Windows allows.

If you don't like the naming prefix behavior, you can turn it off via the
appropriate option under the Settings menu.
