Using Bestiary Monster Creation

I have a couple of questions about using the bestiary monster creation Race - I am trying to get my head around this - I do apologise if some of these questions are simple things I have missed

I don't understand what 'Role' effects? What difference would selecting 'Combat' over 'Any' make?

I am trying to build a medium sized goblinoid race - but I cant seem to work out how to give the creature weapon and armor proficiency? Is this part of hero lab meant just for creatures/animals rather than humanoids like goblin? I tried selecting 'Goblin' as the race but I was not able to change anything (make it medium size for example)

What determines the class skills assigned a monster you build? I cant see where I can customise this?

Thanks in advance!

A monster's role decides how it's CR increases when adding class levels (as described in the appendix of the Bestiary).

You can add the weapon/armor proficiencies for the race in the "Racial Bonus Feats" table.

If all you wanted was to make a normal goblin medium, you could do that by selecting the default Goblin race and adding adjustments on the "Adjust" tab.

Class skills can also be added through the Adjust tab.
