Updating data files in mid character construction

Hi,

New to the product. Im playing PFS with a 4th level monk. I'm updating the character with HL and half way through the construction I realized that I needed the Ultimate Equipment data pack. I purchased it and updated HL. When I went to add Feather Step Slippers and Sleeves of Many Garments they were not in the list.

I backed out and created a new blank character and the items were available in the magic section. When I reloaded my monk character they were not there. Not even grayed out as unavailable.

Do the data packages not work for characters created prior to the data package purchase?

They do, but they are not on by default. Go to "Character -> Configure Hero" and turn on Ultimate Equipment's source for the previously existing character.
