Unable to select Extra Arcanist Exploit feat on a lvl 1 school savant arcanist

Unsure if this is a bug or something I am doing wrong... When building a new level 1 Arcanist (school savant archetype) you miss out on your lvl 1, 3, and 7 exploits. To help counter this I was going to select the feat "Extra Arcanist Exploit" which states:

Extra Arcanist Exploit

Prerequisite(s): Arcanist exploit class feature.

Benefit: You gain one additional arcanist exploit. You must meet the prerequisites for this arcanist exploit.

Special: You can take this feat multiple times. Each time you do, you gain another arcanist exploit.

I meet the prerequisite (an arcanist with the exploit class feature) but because I have yet to get an exploit due to my archetype it seems to not recognize that I have that class feature thus disallow picking up the feat.

Or.. Am I just wrong? Lol.

Thanks!

The thing is you don't actually have the class feature until you have an exploit. And as the archetype states "This ability replaces the arcanist exploits gained at 1st, 3rd, and 7th levels"

So you don't have the class feature until 5th level. Because you choose to replace that class feature with the school class feature at those levels instead

I see... Seemed to be a ton of confusion within build guides and posts about grabbing that feat at level 1.. and as you mention that I see some posts saying what you just said lol :D Thanks!

My advice is take "Build Guides" with a grain of salt. They often interpret rules WAY too much in the players favor and not in a "fair" way.

This is one of the reasons some "hate" HL because it points out that the person has been using some rules incorrectly. :(

We have debated some of this many time with HL and how it does things. To date, with exception to one bug (which we reported) HL has been right in every instance.

So, in our play group, HL is considered right, until proven otherwise.

Yep. I prefer HL as it helps keep me honest in a more IN YOUR FACE manner (big red NO!! or... Option not even available lol) :D
