Unable to connect when creating new realm

Anyone else come across this problem? Today, when trying to create a new realm, I am consistently receiving an error message that says "Unable to Connect". However, I am able to sync my already-existing realms.
 
I'm still having problems. It allowed me to create a new Realm, but it won't let me open it without syncing.

When I try to sync, I get an error message that says "Sync failed due to a communications fault. Check your network connections and try again."

Kind of frustrating because this is the first day I've had in some time to work on a new campaign.
