Trying to buy item, not subtracting gold

I am trying to purchase a Light Crossbow +1 from the item list for my Bard, which lists for 2335 GP. However, the word FREE in Red keeps showing up in the dialogue box when adding the bonus to it, despite me repeatedly clicking on SET price to it's cost. I have a total of 2800 GP. The previous dialogue box, which lists all the weapons, also has a box which is unchecked for FREE.

Any ideas?
 
I've had a similar problem involving this. When I upgrade a weapon, the gold often does not get subtracted. I've been able to set the subtraction cost and that works, but have also seen a delay in subtraction occasionally - I had to refresh the page by saving it.
