Troubleshooting Help

Well-known member
I just purchased a bundle from RPG Now of Rite Publishing spell files.

I got this error message:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

Thing 'raRPRFeral' - Bootstrap thing 'abObeOvono' does not exist

How can I fix this? Be gentle with me. Not very good at computer programming.

looks like your missing a dependency, contact rite publishing to see if they have any dependencies you need for that file.

*edit mathas replied as i was typing this out lol

I'd recommend you report this as a bug to Rite Publishing. 'abObeOvono' is "+4 saves vs. fear", but it's a particular copy built for the demon lord Ovonovo's demonic obediences, and it applies a +4 profane bonus vs. fear. They should remove that, and replace it with a simple script on the race (in the same script that's probably already on the race that's adding innate skills and racial skill bonuses):

#situational[hero.child[svAll],"+4 vs. fear",field[name].text]

P.S. Ovonovo is in Campaign Setting #5, so you can also tell them that by choosing this copy, they've created a requirement that users own campaign setting #5 before purchasing their data set.

Thanks!

If I purchase campaign setting #5 would that solve the problem? Or would I still need to contact them for a fix?

Also, while I'm at it, is there a way to rollback imported file installations? Most of the ones I installed seemed to work fine. But obviously at some point I installed one that created a problem. Is there a way to restore my files to where they were prior to the problem, then install things one at a time until I find the offending import file and not install that until Rite provides a fix?

The Purchase Fixed It

OK, so I figured what the hell, I'd like to have the Campaign #5 anyway, so I bought it. I installed it and that did fix the problem.

But now in addition to my rollback question, I have another question -- how do I find Ovonovo and call up his portfolio?

Thanks and sorry for having so many questions.

Purchasing campaign setting #5 should fix this, but you shouldn't have to buy something to fix a bug (unless you were already planning to purchase that package from us at some point, and you're just moving that purchase up) (a reminder - campaign setting #5 is part of the campaign setting bundle, so make sure you see what the bundle offers before purchasing one of the packages in that bundle)

The "Manage Third-Party Updates" option in the Tools menu is where you can manage the third-party material you've installed.

P.S. If you're working with a character you created before purchasing this package, the new books may not have been turned on for this character. You can re-open the Configure Hero form from the Character menu to check.

Thanks to all of you. I would have gotten the campaign bundle eventually so that just moved up the purchase.

Let me try your patience with one final question. Is there a general index sort of a thing where I could punch in the name of any monster, any piece of equipment, any deity, any "thing" etc. and just call it up? There's an astonishing amount of information stored in the program but it's not always intuitive where to find it.

I'll get a look at it, I'm assuming this is for 1001 spells which was done before I started doing work for RiP. I've got a form I need to get posted for bug reports.

I bought the 1010 spells bundle on DriveThruRPG.com. They're having a pathfinder items sale. I think the problem popped up when I installed 9th level spells, but can't say for sure.
