Thinking of purchasing...house rule question before the plunge

I am not looking for a how-to guide. I am only looking for an if-possible answer.

I have been using fantasy grounds recently. I am thinking of diving head first into Hero Labs for most Pathfinder products (the large hardcover books like UM,UE, etc).

However we have a few house rules. It looks like we can do most of them, but there is one house rule I am not sure it is possible to edit.

When we figure BaB, we stack BaB of the same type (1/2, 3/4, 1/1). So a first level rogue first level cleric would have a BaB of +1 instead of 0. We don't treat it as 2 separate classes, we treat it as a level two 3/4 BaB character.

We don't do that with anything else like good saves verses bad saves because of math.

Is a fundamental rule modification like that even possible?

a Level 6 character that has 1 rouge, 1 cleric, 2 wizard, 1 sorcerer, and 1 fighter would have a BaB of +3 instead of +1. 3/4 = +1 because we assume it is a second level 3/4 BaB. 1/2= +1 because we consider it a third level 1/2 BaB. And of course a level 1 fighter has a BaB of +1.

Under regular rules that would be just a +1 BaB for a 6th level character since no one besides the fighter would have enough level to get more BaB.

We don't have builds that ridiculous. We clamp down on min maxing, but that rule is important to us. So possible.....?

Thanks,

The answer is Yes, you could, but not without some work on your part.

Unfortunately, while we do have a similar optional rule available as part of the recent Pathfinder Unchained, it's not exactly as you describe. First, it applies both to saving throws and Base Attack Bonus, and second the fractional bonuses are totalled across all types before being rounded (so 2 3/4 class levels + 1 1/2 class level equals a total of +2 instead of +1).

There are a couple of ways you could modify things for your home game. The easiest way would probably be to add a Base attack bonus adjustment, manually calculate what your bonus should be, and then add the adjustment to compensate for the difference between the program's calculation and what it is in your house rule. This would be relatively simple, but you'd have to add the adjustment to each character you create, and needing to calculate the bonus yourself removes some of the utility of the program. That's probably best if you only plan to create a few characters with the program, such as if you play infrequently with the same character, and don't gm.

Another way to go would be to create what is called a mechanic, which you can add a script to to calculate the bonus, and then have it overwrite the base attack bonus calculated by the program. It's a bit more complicated, but it'd automate things once you got it done.

Or don't make the adjustment and install the Pathfinder Basic Pack that comes with an adjustment for modifying the BAB already. :)

Or yeah just use Unchained rules as Farling said.

Another option is to switch your house rule to the pathfinder unchained rule :-)

Holy crap, I never saw the Pathfinder Unchained rule. I haven't read that book yet.

So I got all the pathfinder books and bestiaries, and I have converter our group to the Pathfinder unchained rules for bab. I like it better then our system.

Thank you,
