Template Custom Output?

We have seen this in the future and are wondering if this is something that can be "helped" by LW.

The Throne of Skulls tournament being held in the UK later this summer will be instituting a policy where only typed armies lists using their own custom template will be accepted for use in their tournaments (maybe in an effort to "stick it" to army builder programs of all types).

I imagine that something is possible like this in AB at the moment, but could this be made easier where data can be dragged and dropped around a custom page (overlay of the actual PDF) and AB will take this and send it to the printer where the actual PDF has been printed and print over it a second time filling out the necessary data where it needs to go as told by the pre-determined drag-n-drop?
 
Yikes! That seems like a mighty silly requirement to me. The likelihood of typos in a situation where everyone has to re-type their army lists seems incredibly high. It must be an attempt to ensure that everyone's army list is readable while also precluding the use of AB and similar tools. <sigh>

A drag-and-drop designer for roster output would take us *months* to write. While it would be wonderful to have that capability, it definitely would not make it out before the tournament. The only alternative at the moment is to write a custom extension that reads in the AB data and prints it using the format specified for the tournament.

I have no idea how difficult that would be, since I don't know the format that's required. I *do* know that it would entail writing a separate program for the purpose. We used this technique years ago to support the CAV and Warlord datacards for Reaper. But it hasn't been used in a long time.

Can you provide a link to the roster format that is required? That would be helpful in assessing how much work would be involved.
 
I don't think this format would be too difficult to output via a custom extension. It might also be something we could add to AB itself. I'll talk to Colen about it.
 
They're requiring typed copies according to page 6, and then they give you a PDF that you need to print out, photocopy, and fill in? How is that even meant to work?

Which tournaments is this for? Just the UK tournaments, or ones in the USA as well?
