Template - Custom Ability

Is there a way to give a Template Custom Ability like classes, (i.e. go up a level and be able to pick from various Abilities)?
 
No, there isn't a mechanism for this.

Wait a few days, and see if the Alternate Racial Traits mechanism from the APG can solve your problem - The way I created them, they can be applied to races or templates.
