Is there any way I can put text (letters) in a stat instead of numbers?

Lots of ways. For example: "smap" race attribute, "attr" unit attribute,
"stxt" option attribute, etc. You'll find complete details on these
attributes (and others) in the Construction Kit manual and within ABCreator.
