Spellscale Kobold Question

I don't know if this is a bug, or if I am just misunderstanding the rule.

I have a kobold oracle, and he has the Spellscale Kobold ancestry feat.

The feat says:
"A trace of draconic magic flows through your veins. Choose one cantrip from the arcane spell list (Core Rulebook 307). You can Cast this Spell as an arcane innate spell at will. A cantrip is heightened to a spell level equal to half your level rounded up. You gain the trained proficiency rank in arcane spell attack rolls and spell DCs, and your key spellcasting ability is Charisma."

Now, as a 2nd level oracle with this feat, I gain Trained proficiency (+4) in arcane spell attack rolls and spell DCs, and my key spellcasting ability is Charism (+4 bonus). So, shouldn't that make my attack roll with this cantrip +8, and my spell DC 18? Because HLO shows it is +4 and 14, respectively.

Is that an error or am I misunderstanding this feat?

Looks like a bug to me. Is the character's INT 10 by chance? It may be using that as the casting stat by mistake.

Looks like a bug, yeah. With those numbers it's either not giving trained proficiency in Arcane spells, or not keying to Cha (with both being 4 I can't tell). If you wouldn't mind reporting it so we can get it sorted, that'd be great!

Trained proficiency should be +2, not +4.

I just rolled up a test kobold oracle and gave them Ray of Frost through Spellscale Kobold and it looks like it is calculating correctly. If you click on the spell for details it will give you the breakdown of where the spell attack bonus is coming from. When I do that, I see:

Proficiency Level
(Trained)
•Ability Bonus
(+3): Charisma 16 (+3)
•Base Bonus
(+3): Character Level (+1), Trained Proficiency Modifier (+2)

Which is correct for the sample character I rolled

I am a level 2 oracle. Proficiency is 2+ level, so that’s +4. I have an 18 charisma, that’s +4. So, it should be 18.

It is most certainly NOT correct on my character.

It should be +8 (spell attack) and DC 18 save, and the spell attack is showing as +4 and the DC as 14, which is NOT correct.

What I'm suggesting is that once HLO is back up, go to your character sheet, click on the details of the spell and reporting what the breakdown of the bonuses are. As I showed in my post, it should tell you exactly what bonuses are being added from what sources, to get that spell attack of +4. That way we would know exactly what is being added and what is not being added.

Most curious indeed! Have you reported this to tech support? That helps us track the issue and make sure that it gets handled properly.

Oh wow, I didn't even think that the printed character sheet might be different. Nice catch.

I just presumed that the printed character sheet would have had the same info as the online version. So, when I went back and looked at the online version and saw the calculation was correct, then it became clear that it was something in the character sheet and not online.

Weird.
