The Book allowas you to give the Sergant for a Space Marine Scout
unit a sniper rifle for 5 points, but the current version of the AB
files will not allow this... any idea how to correct this?

No, the book specifically says that anytime any squad can be given upgrade
weapons as options, those options only apply to regular squad members, not
to the sergeants. I believe this is also in the FAQ for the files that the
long-suffering Colen has provided with the datafiles.
