Slow RW

I know I have a old Laptop. Still windows xp, on an old Core 2 duo 2Ghz.

But can I do soomething to speed up RW? It takes 2 second, sometimes 4 to open a tab and get the data. Which is very long during the game play in order to get the information I need. And my realm is still very small.

Don't tell me I have to buy a new Laptop just for this (I have a work PC, brand new, but as no way I can install RW on a external drive, I'm stuck with this old PC)

Any idea?

It's mostly the same on my machine built for gaming and software development.* LWD has acknowledged it as something they'd like to improve.

* Core i7, 16 GB RAM, SSD, blah blah.

Same here, though LWD squashing slowness over different releases has increased speed, then it decreases on other releases.

* Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, i7, 32 GB RAM, SSD over here.

To reiterate what others have said, this is something we know is an issue and would like to improve in the near future.

For older machines, it's likely that switching between tabs will never be instantaneous, but our hope is to make it much snappier than it is now.

For me it helps to pre-load tabs that I know I will use during the session. I know that's not always possible, but it helps.

Thanks Liz

And I know that one day, I'll have to buy a new one... 7 years is already old for a pc.

Just to add to this a little. My laptop I use for DMing is a very old 7 years I think. Its a duel core 2.2ghz CPU with 4gigs of memory and the video card may have 256 memory. Its currently running Win 7 x64 Ultimate and I use it to run RW, DMF, music software, about 3-4 PDFs open and a web browser during the game.

So I often have about 5-9 tabs open in RW and it has the player view displaying on a 30inch monitor for the players at all times. Yes its not lighting fast but its more than fast enough to run all the above. So if a duel core CPU is working without issues anything newer should be flying.

I could upgrade but the old laptop works and RW is much better sense beta days. :)

Sounds like we have the same laptop specs , SC.

Let me know if this is your experience:

1. Loading a new tab can take 3-5 seconds.
2. Player view management is sluggish and hard to arrange. I show my player view on a 32" TV, but my laptop monitor PV display doesn't match the big monitor at all. The general location of the shared images is accurate but the image on my laptop will be zoomed in tight, while the image on my display screen is normal proportion/ zoom.

It's getting frustrating to the point that I think I'm doing something wrong. It's slow, clumsy and requires me to carefully watch both monitors in order to show the necessary images to players.

After doing a little testing its about 2-3 seconds. But I load by opening a new tab each time. It then allows for faster switching between each open tab instead of doing the "back" arrow.

This is not even close to my experience at all. The Player View is quick and easy and exactly what I see on my DM side of RW is what the players see. So if I zoom in on my DM side then the exact same zoomed image is displayed on the players side. I use this feature a decent amount as in the shackles map has "lots" of small island. So I zoom into just the island the players are dealing with.

I wish I had some advice on how to fix this but I don't except put in a bug report. For at least myself I don't have those issues and it shouldn't be normal. :(

The only difference is I am using a monitor not a TV and "maybe" that is somehow causing it???
