This may have been covered somewhere, I didn't see it though so could it be bumped up if it has been addressed? I was wondering if we had any estimate of a sixth edition version of army builder? I just renewed my subscription for three years for this :)

Thanks guys!

GW have pulled the plug on that Im afraid. no more gw updates allowed. Real shame as It was a superb system

Yup GW pulled the plug on the hosting website where we kept our files. However, It will still be released, when it is done. On our website...

Yes, it's still going to be updated. The only thing that is changed is the primary place that Army Builder is going to look for the datafiles when they get updated. They spent a few days going over this so people would know that it was going to be 'business as usual' for 99% of users. They just wanted to make sure that *if* there were any hiccups, even if only for a day or two, that they were upfront about the reasons and for transparency with the userbase.

I wonder why GW are being so A&&ey about it. Oh yeah they just signed a massive deal with Apple so they can do much the same at a vastly over inflated price.

This is incorrect.

First the Digital codex is not an Army Builder.

Second, there is no 'contract' or 'deal' that is any different from any other publisher on iBooks.

Why do people feel the need to invent conspiracies? Especially based on wild speculation that is easily controverted by simply looking at primary sources rather than what the last hysterical fool said he heard they contained?

I didn't say the digital codex was an army builder, it's a lot of people's belief that it is a precursor to them doing one, and we all know when (not if) they do one it will be at a vastly over inflated price like every damn thing else they do now. I mean come on guys, they really need to charge 70 quid for something that a year ago cost 55?

GW already created and sold an army creation app, it did terrible and is doubtful they would try that again.

As for the costs you are listing, while I find the increase annoying, it isn't really unreasonable. Take for example the 5e rule book was $50, and the 6e is $75. Which is a 50% increase. The 5e rules also weighed in at 300 pages and the 6e book is 450 pages. Also a 50% increase.

I'm not talking about the BRB, which yes was quite reasonable (unusually for them), I'm talking about a lot of their other stuff. Some of the battlesets, take the Ravenwing for example, from 50 quid a year ago to 77 now.... That's a disgusting markup way over inflation and frankly unnecesary, I doubt their production costs have gone up anywhere close to that. And really do you think a pound less for a digital version of a book is realistic? They don't have to print it (no ink), they don't need to bind it (no paper), so in all likely costs them less than half to produce, in fact it cost them nothing now as they must have already had the files around knowing modern production methods. So had they charged half and put it on all android devices that would have been reasonable.

Everyone, please move the discussion of GW as a company, and the discussion of what you think they intend to do to other forums that are better suited for that, and leave this forum for what it was intended for - a discussion of how the 40K system is implemented in Army Builder.

Strange...the info I had heard on their E-Codex was that it *DID* include an army builder..that was part of the advertising, at least...

Still, glad to hear that the AB guys are working on it, and that we should see it soon-ish. I hope that it applies the errata and FAQs to the files, now that Power Weapon is specific, and its stats are determined by what the model
is holding looks like.

Hi everyone, I can see the new file in the updates section of the program (6th general release), but it says the file is either corrupted or not valid.

I have just tried to download the new "First 6th edition General Release" update and I get :

"The selected file is not a valid file for army builder. If the file was downloaded it was likely corrupted, so please try downloading the file again."

I have tried to download the file now several times and it doesn't look to even start to download anything.....

Can you let us know whats happening please.

i don't know where to post this but to point out in the 6th update for the tau only the target lock for battlesuits have no meaning anymore the troops and vehicles still have target lock, my friend pointed this out to me because it actually states the page number for battlesuit wargear only

Hi everyone, I can see the new file in the updates section of the program (6th general release), but it says the file is either corrupted or not valid.

There's a problem with the autoupdate configuration for the remotely hosted version in AB (which is being picked up as the update as it still says Warhammer 40k 5th Edition), but if you look in the downloads available there is a Warhammer 40k 6th Edition option, choose that one instead. Alternatively go to http://www.ab40k.org/filebase.php?c=4 and download the file from there.
