I am about to release an update to Netrunner data files that include images information. I believe minimum version for viewing the images is 1.3. I do believe that prior versions of Card Vault can still use my files (other than images, nothing about my data files has made previous versions invalid since I started with 1.2). Are the other data file authors setting the cvreg for datafiles with image data in it?

You should use it. it will force people to upgrade to the latest version
of CV.

Hi Jim,

While I appreciate the sentiments, I'm not a big fan of the slegdehammer
approach to upgrades. :-) If a user doesn't need any functionality of newer
product releases for a given set of data files, I don't think they
necessarily should be forced to upgrade. Our goal is to ensure that each
new release of CV adds valuable features so the user WANTS to upgrade. :-)

The bottom line, though, is that this is a decision entirely at the
discretion of the data file author. I'm not going to tell anyone what to do
in this regard. Some data files rely on new functionality, in which case
it's not a question for discussion. In some cases, the author might want to
require a particular version to eliminate potential data file support
problems that arose with an older version of CV. And sometimes it's a
purely elective situation. Ultimately, the author can make his/her own
choice in the matter.

I just thought I'd share my thinking on the topic. :-)

Thanks, Rob
