Shield brace feat with longspear and buckler

I don’t know if I’m misunderstanding the feat or this is a bug, but when I have a longspear equipped my buckler shows as +0 to AC. I have to unequip the longspear to get the AC bonus. Isn’t this what shield brace is supposed to circumvent? Thanks
