The way hidden units work with the settings menu is controlled via the
datadef file. (This is explained in the ConstKit.rtf file installed in the
armybuilder folder when ABCreator is installed). Basically in the datadef,
after the unit composition name and the composition abbreviation is a number
(either one or zero). If it's one, it's filtered via the settings menu, if
it's zero, it's not.

EG.

Units
Character | hq | 0
Vehicle | veh | 0
Special Characters | spc | 1

In the above example, characters and vehicles are not filtered by the
settings menu, but special characters are. (Example drawn from 40k files,
with permission from me. )
