Selecting Ranged or Melee

Hello everyone.

I bought HL recently, and I'm very happy with it. Thanks a bunch.

One thing I need to clarify however is how to select Ranged or Melee for calculation.

Context:

Ranger - Twin Strike

It always shows up as the STR calculation, even though I'm wielding a Longbow. How can I change this to the DEX calculation?

Sorry if this is a simple/silly question, however I have been unable to figure this out.

On the special tab, just equip the longbow.

To test this I created a level 1 ranger with base all 10 stats. I picked up Twin Strike and then bought a longbow. I equipped it on the special tab and saw I had +2 (proficiency bonus) I then started increasing dex and my bonus to hit scaled up.
